CUHK Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Research Institute (Futian, Shenzhen) is located at F37, F40 and F41 of Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Center. It is one of the first Hong Kong universities projects settled in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone The research institute gathers advantageous resources and development experiences of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, follows government policies, serves national strategies and relies on the Blue Bay Incubator, Academy for Continuing Education and SZ-HK Collaborative Innovation Laboratory Cluster to allow coordinated development of "enterprises, colleges, and research institutes", promote effective transformation of innovation achievements and create long-term value for national economy, social progress and SZ-HK scientific and technological innovation cooperation.
In the three years since its founding, this institute has published 240 papers, including 158 SCI papers, has applied for 24 patents, published 1 book, and applied over 30 projects. HKUST Blue Bay Incubator has incubated 120 projects accumulatively, 84.67% of which are the enterprises founded by the talents with master's degree or doctor's degree, and has introduced accumulatively 150 scientific innovation talents from HKUST. 28 of the incubated projects use technologies of HKUST. 26 of the enterprises have received financing and their total financing amount exceeds RMB 1.1 billion, and their estimated value exceeds RMB 6 billion. The Academy for Continuing Education has developed 38 courses, introduced 32 professional mentors who are HKUST professors or renowned experts, and trained over 400 high-quality students.
