The HKUST Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Research Institute (Futian, Shenzhen) is located on the 37th, 40th, and 41st floors of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Center. It was the first scientific research project of Hong Kong universities based in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, which focused on the frontier of innovation and technology and the development of a world-class industry-university research collaborative innovation platform.
The institute engages in cutting-edge scientific research and achievements commercialization, leverages the advantageous specialties and professional teams of HKUST, creates a number of laboratory clusters, focuses on introducing high-potential science and technology projects under the entrepreneurial system of HKUST, and creates a Blue Bay incubation harbor. A continuing education college will be established by adopting microelectronics courses to supply high-end experts with on-the-job training in the Greater Bay Area and maintain a pool of elite talents for the microelectronics industry.
