Shenzhen OpenAtom Open Source Technology Service Center

In June 2019, the Minitstry of Industry and Information, Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu and Tide started preparation forthefounding of OpenAtom Foundation. In December, the proposalwas approved by the MII ministerial meeting and in January 2020, it passed the ministerial meeting of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It has recorded investment assessments of10 council members, namely,  Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu, Tide, Mi, Oppo, Vivo, 360 and Merchants Bank of China, and acquired registration certificates of OpenAtom Foundation on June 12,2020. On March20, the board of directors reviewed and passed the 1+3+N proposal which stands for one foundation, three agencies (open source service center, incubation center and special funds) and“N” number of business fields. 

The Foundation:

The OpenAtom Foundation is a global non-profit charity organization dedicated to the open source industry. Its business scope includes open source software, hardware, chips and content. The OpenAtom Foundation provides neutral intellectual property custody for various open source projects to ensure that the sustainable development of the project is not affected by third parties, and seeks support and help from richer community resources through open governance and professional support in law, finance and fund management.

The OpenAtom Foundation is an incubator, connector and multiplier of open source projects. Through governance overopen source codes, it is conducive toset standards, connect industry, education and researchinstitutesto jointly establish open source ecology and provide more application scenarios for open source projects.  

Shenzhen OpenAtom Open Source Technology Service Centeris a private, non-enterprise institutionwhich focuses on IPRs legal service, provides IT infrastructure construction and maintenance service, community operation and management service and branding service for OpenAtom Foundation and open source projects  

Guided by the demands of OpenAtom Foundation, the centeraims to solve bottlenecked corecomplaints, focus on building professional service capability, speed up the construction of open source ecology and improve the transformation of scientific achievements through integrating industrial and innovation resources andserve upstream and downstream of open source industries.

Open Source Industry Incubation Base plans to raise and set up open source funds to support funding of related industries to investinopen source projects and assist OpenAtom Foundation to operate and manage IPRs of open source projects including retrieval, analysis, evaluation of IPRs, organize community activitiessuch assalons and developer meetings,assist open source enterprises and startups to settle in incubation bases including registration, legal aid and tax reimbursement, invest in valuable objects, undertakethelaunching and marketing of open source products and offer training and accreditation services through cooperation with agencies designated by the foundation.

Devoted to theinnovation and promotion of open source ecology and providing three services:  

Law consulting——Open source license issuance and implementation, trademark consulting, IPR defense, non-profit organization legal aid and open source projects IPR trust and operation.  

IT basic infrastructure service——Development, maintenance or support for community websites and trustee platforms, development and operation of community operation tools, developer service, testing, accreditation and compliance of open source projects or items.  

Community operation and management——activity planning, establishment of auser-centered highly efficient community growth system and promotion of open source.
