OVER 100 intellectual property experts and high-tech entrepreneurs gathered at an event that focused on dispute resolution for tech innovation enterprises. The gathering took place April 15 at the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) office, located in the Shenzhen Park of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, to mark World Intellectual Property Day, which will fall on April 26.
Wu Handong, director of the Academic Council at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, highlighted the important role of intellectual property protection in safeguarding innovation and catalyzing the rapid advancement of new quality productive forces.
Positioning Hetao as a strategic hub for innovative growth, Wu advocated for the establishment of a comprehensive intellectual property and dispute resolution framework that integrates litigation, arbitration, and mediation mechanisms.“I hope that Hetao will accumulate expertise to pioneer such a system nationwide,” Wu said.
At the event, two more experts delivered speeches in which they shared their observations on the connection between tech innovation and intellectual property.
Serving as a dispute resolution institute, SCIA places substantial emphasis on supporting the innovative progress of tech enterprises and addressing their dispute resolution needs in intellectual property matters.
According to Chen Qiaomei, assistant to the president of SCIA, the center has witnessed a surge in scientific and technological establishments in Hetao over the past three years.
"We aim to leverage arbitration practices to boost the innovative development of tech enterprises in Hetao, particularly by enhancing scientific transformation in intellectual property areas," Chen said during an interview Monday.
The China (Shenzhen) Intellectual Property Arbitration Center was inaugurated in Hetao in April 2021. With a roster of 322 intellectual property arbitrators from diverse domestic and international backgrounds spanning 57 countries and regions, the center has nurtured a vibrant atmosphere of innovation.
